Our Products

Stars-N-Stripes takes great pride in providing our customers with only the finest products available.
We use only BREWER-COTE  products for all of our seal-coating jobs

Brewer-cote concentrate is a heavy duty coal tar emulsion sealer  that is manufactured under strict quality control standards, it consistently averages 51% solids and exceeds federal specifications RP-355E as well as FAA and ASTM requirements.

Tarmax r-100 is a latex additive that when added to the coal tar emulsion shortens the drying time, increases viscosity, and enhances the performance of coal tar emulsions.

Tarloc is a primer coating that is applied over oil spots. Oil will not let sealer adhere to it,  by nature sealer is designed to repel oil, therefore a primer must be used to insure that the sealer will stick to the oil spot. Heavily saturated oil spots may require additional treatments or need to be be cut out and replaced to get the sealer to adhere properly.

Black Beauty Aggregate is a black boiler slag aggregate with a high degree of etch to provide a permanent bonding of coatings, longer wear and additional traction.

At Stars-n-Stripes we custom blend our mixes to fit the customer's job description.

Crack-Sealant

Hot-pour crack sealants are recommended to fill all cracks, hot-pour is installed at a temperature of 350-400 degrees F at this temperature it is in liquid form and will penetrate deep into the crack ,filling it completely leaving a level surface. It is also designed to flex with the changing temperatures.

Cold-pour  crack fillers  are more for the do-it-yourselfer, they require no special equipment to install. The disadvantage to cold pour materials is that after they are installed and begin to cure they  "suck down" into the crack leaving the outline of the crack showing, while the crack is sealed it appears to still be there and moisture may still stand and penetrate into the crack.

Alligatored areas, as we refer to them are areas that have several short cracks that all meet together forming a larger area that is cracked these areas should be cut out with a saw not jack hammered (this can lead to further damage) and then compacted before adding new asphalt.

Stars-n-Stripes
Crack-filling policy

All hair-line cracks and cracks under 3/8 inch in width will be filled in with the sealer.
All singular cracks over 3/8 inch in width  will be filled in with hot pour on commercial jobs.
Residential jobs: While the choice of hot or cold pour will be left up to the customer we strongly suggest hot-pour . If cold pour is chosen please remember that we will only fill the cracks with the initial filling and that the "suck down" effect should be expected and that on larger cracks the crack filler may develop hairline cracking when cured.

The Sealing Process

After you have accepted our proposal to do the work (Thank you , you won't be disappointed) you will be contacted to set a date to have the work done. On that day you will need to have everything off the asphalt that is being sealed, all cars you will need that day and the next should be out of the garage and turn off any sprinkler systems that could affect the sealed area the night before.
When we arrive we will begin by weed eating along the edges and removing any vegetation from cracks, after weed eating we will blow off any debris using high powered blowers while at the same time using wire brushes to remove any stuck on dirt. After the surface has been properly prepared we will begin filling any cracks that need to be filled and putting Tarloc on any oil spots that require it, we then begin to lay out the sealer and apply it by using 3ft brushes not squeegees (brushes will leave more sealer on the surface) after sealing has been completed we block off the end of the drive so no one can pull in.
You will need to  stay off the drive with cars for 24 hrs at a minimum, preferably 48hrs on shaded drives.
Sealer takes an average of 21 days to fully cure, try to avoid turning your wheels when the car is not moving during this time frame.

Stars-n-Stripes takes great pride in our work and customer satisfaction is guaranteed please feel free to call us with any questions or concerns.
